Plot summary
Tim Wakefield and R.A. Dickey were the only pitchers in the major leagues throwing the knuckleball during the 2011 season, and the film follows both of them through that year. Wakefield, with the Boston Red Sox, is pursuing the 200th victory of his career. Dickey, whose family had relocated 37 times before he reached the New York Mets, is pitching in a season that will decide whether he stays in the game. The pitch had already pulled each of them out of obscurity, and it ties them to the men who threw it before them. Wakefield and Dickey meet older knuckleball pitchers, among them Phil Niekro and Charlie Hough, and trade advice on how to throw it.
