  • Pawan Kalyan insisted on adding extra fight sequences to Kushi, and when director S. J. Suryah felt they weren't necessary to the story he asked Kalyan to direct them himself. Kalyan also directed three songs: "Ye Mera Jahan," "Premante Suluvu Kaaduraa" and "Aaduvari Matalaku."
  • Ameesha Patel got busy after Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000), so the makers of Kushi had to hunt for a new female lead, and S. J. Suryah cast Bhumika after watching her in Yuvakudu (2000).
  • Kushi capped a streak of six consecutive hits for Pawan Kalyan, and his style, mannerisms and dialogues in the film were much imitated by the youth.
  • When Kushi opened on 27 April 2001, it was reportedly the first ever Telugu film to be released in London.
  • The song "Aaduvari Maatalaku" was originally written by Pingali for Missamma (1955); Mani Sharma remixed it for Kushi with vocals by Murali.
  • Kushi was re-released in a remastered 4K version on 31 December 2022 and became the highest-grossing Telugu re-release of all time, surpassing the previous record held by Pawan Kalyan's Jalsa.
