Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Okkadu (2003)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Police permission to shoot at the real Charminar was refused after a person jumped to his death from its top, so Mahesh Babu and Gunasekhar asked producer M. S. Raju to let them erect a Charminar set; he agreed after hearing the script narration.
- Once the first copy was ready, the Paruchuri Brothers suggested Gunasekhar drop the non-linear narrative, and he and editor A. Sreekar Prasad converted the film to a linear structure within ten minutes.
- Building the Charminar set employed 300 workers for three months and cost ₹1.75 crore; its length was cut to 120 feet while the minarets were left unaltered, and the monument's surroundings were recreated across five acres.
- The climax was shot over 11 days in December 2002 with 1,000 junior artistes working in extreme climatic conditions, and Mahesh Babu was injured several times during the shoot despite training in kabaddi for the part.
