Plot summary
Rugby is the Canavero family trade. Jo's grandfather and father were legends of the game, and Jo became one too. He raises Tom, his only child, by himself in a village in the Tarn region of France. Tom is thirteen, quick with numbers and of little use on the field, which troubles Jo. For a Canavero, he believes, the line of legends cannot end here. He intends to put a rugby team together for Tom, though the village and Tom himself want nothing to do with it.
