Plot summary
In 1983, Jimmy Levine, a deprogrammer, is brought in by the Powell family to recover their estranged son Justin from a murderous cult. Working with Justin's father, Andrew, he takes the boy away from the group. The family has gathered at Andrew's cabin in the woods for an intervention, among them mother Kathy, older brother Campbell, and Samantha, Justin's former girlfriend, with the baby she and Justin share. Levine confronts the boy, who stays unmoved and calls the cult his real family, saying it will come for him. Pleas from Kathy and Samantha change nothing, and arguments break out about whether the deprogramming is working and why the parents separated. Then the cultists appear outside the cabin.
