Plot summary
The organization Brand New-U tracks Identicals, people whose walk and speech match yours but who are living different, better lives. It helps its customers make a life upgrade: the better-life donor is eliminated and the client is relocated into that brand new life. Slater's life, his job and his girlfriend all seem perfect. Then Brand New-U takes her and leaves a corpse where she was, and he is forced to become an Identical himself. He passes through a series of parallel lives in search of her.
