Plot summary

Greenland lies in endless summer and Iceland in endless winter, two neighboring kingdoms that dragons once guarded. The snowman Arktos hunted the dragons down, and the last pair, Tyrion and Mythia, fled to the edge of Greenland with their egg. Mythia gave the egg into the care of the old crow Kolk, who promised to keep the hatchling from Arktos. Years pass, and the dragon that hatches, Tabaluga, still cannot fly or breathe fire, and the other animals of Greenland mock him for it. With his ladybug friend Bully he finds a message from his mother in a rock, partly hidden, and misreads it. He goes into Iceland to look for his fire and meets the ice princess Lilli and the polar bear Limbo, and Lilli, who knows nothing of the past, brings him before Arktos, king of Iceland.
