Plot summary
Lawrence Kweller is 17, egotistical, and a cinephile in Burlington, Ontario, in 2003. He and his best friend Matt Macarchuck have a weekly ritual called Reject's Night, when they watch SNL skits. They show a short movie about it to their class. Classmate Lauren P. tries to back the film, which annoys Lawrence, and the class's reaction leaves Matt embarrassed. Lawrence wants a job at Sequels, a movie rental store, to pay for his tuition at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Manager Alana hires him. His shifts fall on Reject's Night. Matt grows interested in Lauren.
