Plot summary
Zong Hua grew up around Cantonese opera, and it is still the family trade. Cheated in his business dealings in a foreign country, he owes a large sum and decides to go back to Malaysia, the place he left a decade earlier. Once there, getting used to home again is difficult, and so is finding work. His stepfather Xiaotian, a former Cantonese opera star, runs a troupe. Zong Hua and Xiaotian have never gotten along. Jing Jing, his half-sister, saw the two of them clash throughout childhood and holds her brother to blame for their mother's death ten years ago, believing the grief of those quarrels caused it.
