Plot summary
Over three years, a team of twenty people travels to sixty countries and interviews more than two thousand people, putting the same forty questions to each of them. Every person is filmed against a plain black background, with no music and no details about their name or where they live. Their accounts touch on poverty, war, religion and family life, on ambition and failure, on love and happiness, and on hatred and violence. Aerial images of the Earth appear between the interviews. Five journalists and cameramen gather the material, a fixer in each location arranges the meetings, and an aerial crew of six films the landscapes.
