Plot summary
The Southern Baptist megachurch Wander to Greater Paths draws a large following and a substantial income under Pastor Lee-Curtis Childs and his wife Trinitie. A scandal over Lee-Curtis's pursuit of vulnerable young men, which contradicts his own preaching against same-sex relationships, closes the church and drives most of the congregation away. A year on, the Childses invite a documentary crew to follow their attempt to reopen. Five devoted members still believe Lee-Curtis is innocent and attend his Wednesday sermons, while Keon and Shakura Sumpter, a pastoral couple who call the Childses an inspiration, prepare their own church, Heaven's Home, and many former members of the church plan to worship there instead.
