Plot summary

As host of the 2018 Winter Olympics, South Korea takes a place in the Olympic hockey tournament and competes at the top level of the sport for the first time. The country has only about 180 professional hockey players, so the gap to the leading nations is wide. Losing face counts as the worst outcome in Korean culture, making defeat on home ice unacceptable. A coach who is ethnically Korean but mentally North American is dropped into the Korean ice hockey landscape, affected by local customs, politicians, corporation executives and international tensions with Japan and North Korea. He has four years to build a national team from about 100 players and to avoid a national embarrassment against Canada, his home country.
