Plot summary
B.P.R.D. senior agent Hellboy and rookie partner Bobbie Jo Song are riding a train through the Appalachian Mountains in 1959, carrying a captured spider entity back to Bureau headquarters. When the creature swells to monstrous size, it overturns their car and escapes, and Hellboy guesses that something evil is haunting the region. Stranded, the pair run into Tom Ferrell, a war veteran who has returned to atone for past sins, and accompany him to the witch Cora Fisher, his former girlfriend. Tom tells the agents that he once made a pact with the Crooked Man, a local devil, and that he means to confront and destroy him.
