Plot summary
Five New Yorkers whose lives are connected move through a single autumn day in New York City. Isabel Lee is a photographer in the city who has begun to doubt her coming marriage to Jonathan Kestler, a lawyer. Her mother, Diana Lee, is an award-winning actress who has started to question the open arrangement she and her husband have kept. Their paths cross with Alec Lochka, a young actor, and with Peter Cole, a journalist, over the course of the day. The day runs from morning until the next sunrise, and all five of them have a decision to make about how they want to live.
