Plot summary
Lee Plenty wants to write novels but has almost no money and no place to live, so he stays in the home of his friend Havilland Savage while she visits her family. Havilland is rich and beautiful, and Lee has loved her in secret for years. He accepts her invitation to her New Year's Eve party for the chance to see her. Caroline, Havilland's closest friend, is there that weekend, as are Leigh, her married sister, and Michael Simmons, the recording artist she is dating. Romantic complications arise among the guests that weekend, and Lee is in the middle of them.
