Plot summary
Pete Ivey is easy to overlook at Brewster High, and the girl he likes, Cleatus's older sister, is already going out with the captain of the basketball team. Pete's father tells him he needs to give her something to notice. Cleatus, the school's chicken mascot, discovers he is allergic to the costume and begs Pete to wear it for a game, offering to arrange a date with his sister in return. Pete draws attention inside the suit and agrees to be The Chicken full time. He also gets to know Angela Morrisey, a cheerleader, when both are chosen for the parade float committee.
