Plot summary
Professor Bolton, an archaeologist, was researching Vampire Island, a place between Africa and India. He dies there. His son Chris arrives to bury him, but the body is pinned under a heavy tomb. The tomb is Hannah's. She was the fiancee of King Louis VII, and legend says she became a vampire. Louis sealed her alive inside, so that she would rise again if the tomb were opened before the return of Christ. At the dock Chris meets Peter, a graduate student studying the Crusades. Peter and his sister Mary live on the island.
