Plot summary
Jake Bridges is a journalist in New York. When he finds his girlfriend with another man, he travels to Atlantic City and drinks to forget his troubles. Frankie McGregor, a small-time mobster, saves him during a bar brawl, and the two men become friends. Jake also meets Frankie's girlfriend, Melissa, and falls for her. After that he joins Frankie in his money-collecting duties.
