Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Grave Encounters (2011)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- For the sequence in which Houston is thrown across a room, the Vicious Brothers first shot it as a practical stunt with a stunt performer, disliked the result, then had the performer run, jump and fall repeatedly and finished the effect in post-production.
- Grave Encounters was shot for a budget of only $120,000 and went on to gross over $5 million, making the cheap found-footage gamble a commercial success.
- To keep costs down, Colin Minihan and Stuart Ortiz, the Vicious Brothers, chose the mockumentary format while found-footage films such as Paranormal Activity were succeeding, and Minihan said they wondered why nobody had made a found-footage film out of ghost-hunting shows.
