Goldrush: A Real Life Alaskan Adventure (1998) on Netflix

Plot summary

Frances Ella 'Fizzy' Fitz earns her living in a New York office as a typewriter and stenographer. News of the gold rush in Alaska reaches her, and she decides she wants to try her luck in that dangerous country. A train ticket costs more than she has, so she asks to travel with the party of Pierce Thomas 'PT' Madison, who is glad of her typing skills. Her mother resists the plan, and a meeting with Madison does not change her mind; only Fizzy's persistence wins her approval. The twenty-four men of the eighteen-month expedition are wary of her, and Barry Keown moves to vote her out, but Madison asks that she be given a chance to prove herself. In Alaska, he sets her up in an office rather than on the mining claims.
