Plot summary
John Bul Dau, Daniel Pach and Panther Bior are Southern Sudanese men. As boys in the 1980s, they walk a thousand miles to escape the wars in their homeland, then make another journey to get out of Ethiopia. Five years of walking in search of safety leave thousands dead from starvation, thirst, bomb raids and killings. The three reach the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya. In 2001, 3,600 of the Lost Boys, they among them, are invited to move to the United States with help from Catholic Charities International, leaving thousands of refugees behind.
