Plot summary
Kia, a college professor, shares her Chicago apartment with Max, a student who has not had sex in ten months. The two run into Ely at a coffee shop, a woman with long braided hair whom Max dismisses at first. Friends from their circle arrange a meeting between Max and Ely, and Max likes her, though Ely is older and the two have little in common. Ely has been seeing Kate at a distance for more than two years. Kia's girlfriend, Evy, goes home to her family, where her mother confronts her and throws her out, and Evy then moves in with Max and Kia.
