Plot summary
After a friendly exhibition match, the Ōarai students come home to hear from student council president Anzu Kadotani that the Ministry of Education has gone back on its verbal agreement to keep the academy open, even after their victory over Kuromorimine. A plane sent by Saunders University High School comes to collect the tanks for safekeeping while the students get ready to leave the carrier that houses their school. Anzu and instructor Ami Chōno protest at the Japan Senshadō Federation, and with Shiho Nishizumi's support, since she wants a rematch for Kuromorimine, the Ministry agrees to reopen Ōarai on one condition: the girls must defeat the university team led by Alice Shimada in an annihilation match. Kuromorimine, Saunders, Pravda, St. Gloriana, Anzio, Keizoku and Chihatan then join Ōarai against thirty opposing tanks.

- The film spurred Japanese tourists to visit the Parola Tank Museum near Hämeenlinna, Finland, to see the real-life BT-42, and influenced young Japanese men to take kantele lessons; Japanese donors gave roughly ¥3 million through the museum's cloud funding to help build a roof for exposed tanks.
- In April 2016, cosplaying tourists visiting Kamioka Elementary School in Ibaraki Prefecture, where Ōarai Girls' Academy's Senshadō club members live after their school's closure in the film, were banned from holding cosplay photo sessions after local residents complained about their mismanagement of the facility.
- Two days after the film's premiere, the franchise's official Twitter account reported that people had rowdily trespassed on Ōarai Golf Club in Ibaraki Prefecture, whose golf course appears in the film.
- Belarusian video game company Wargaming was deeply involved in making the film and supplied illustrations of nine tanks, including the BT-42, Karl-Gerät and T28; producer Kiyoshi Sugiyama asked for black-and-white illustrations rather than photographs because they were more useful for adding tank detail during animation.
- In a July 2017 interview with the Embassy of Finland in Tokyo, director Tsutomu Mizushima said the names Mika, Aki and Mikko were Finnish male names that could sound Japanese, and that Keizoku High School was based on Finland's Continuation War during World War II.
