Plot summary
Dr. Krickstein has spent years studying gravity in a laboratory beneath the college hockey arena, and Charlie Boyle, a twelve-year-old physics prodigy who also loves hockey, comes to the college to work with him. Charlie has trouble making friends among the older students, including his roommate Mike. Then he meets Claire Addison, a junior high student whose father coaches the Northern Lights, the college hockey team. Tired of being treated badly for his brains and wanting to get close to her, Charlie claims to be a new kid at her school called Chaz Anthony. He enrolls there, adopts a bad boy image to seem cool, and persuades Claire to tutor him.
