Plot summary
Gary and Nick, two friends, go hunting in the Northern Michigan woods. While wandering, they accidentally break a sacred circle, and the Wendigo is released. The Wendigo attacks the hunters. The film mixes horror and comedy and owes a debt to the Evil Dead movies, including a torn Evil Dead II poster. At one point, footage from It's a Wonderful Life appears, and some scenes claim to take place in Bedford Falls. Shooting was done primarily in southeast Michigan, with a hunting cabin set constructed inside a former schoolhouse in Tecumseh. Other locations included Dearborn, Dexter, Livonia, and Houghton Lake, and the Wendigo's Hell hole was dug in a neighbor's backyard. The special effects were noted, with work from a crew member who had also worked on Moontrap. The film was made independently.

- With no budget to develop the footage, director Tom Chaney stored the film's undeveloped reels in his home freezer until Kodak volunteered to process them on a "pay as you go" plan.
- Tom Chaney was 25 when he wrote, directed and produced the film, then titled Wendigo, putting $17,500 of his own money into the production.
- The film's hunting cabin was not a real cabin but a set built inside an old schoolhouse in Tecumseh, Michigan, where much of the film was shot.
