French for Beginners (2006) on Netflix

Plot summary

Henrik can't stand his French lessons with Monsieur Nouvelleville and wants nothing to do with the country. Then he falls for Valerie, whose French mother raised her with the language and the culture, and she signs up for the school exchange. To prove himself, Henrik joins the trip with his friend Johannes. His French is almost nonexistent, so even simple talk is a struggle, and he lets a chance to get near her slip by during a stopover in Paris. When he first meets the students of the town, he learns that Valerie already has a French boyfriend, Mathieu. Henrik is jealous, and the customs he meets through Cyril, the exchange partner he stays with on a farm, leave him frustrated.
