Plot summary
Newly arrived in New York City, Chip is a gifted young dancer with talent to burn who joins the downtown contemporary dance world. He starts to train and practice in a SoHo studio with three other dancers and a ballet master, and together the group rehearses a ballet of five dances, patiently working through the figures of each one. His family is in the Midwest, and it is a broken one. The responsibility he feels toward that family pulls against the career and personal life he is forging for himself in the city, and he has to choose between the two.
