Plot summary
Leon Vitali was a successful British actor who was cast in Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon as Lord Bullingdon. When that production ended he stepped away from performing and went to work for Kubrick, remaining at his side for more than twenty years in a central behind-the-scenes role that shaped the making and the upkeep of the director's films. Vitali's private collection supplies the documentary's raw material: previously unseen photographs, video, letters, notebooks and memos. The account is completed by interviews with actors, crew members, film industry professionals and members of Vitali's family who knew the two men, gathered over a shoot that took three years and spanned California, New York, Kentucky, the UK and Sweden.
