Plot summary
In 1989, Jack Toretto races on a short track with his sons Dom and Jakob in the pit crew. Dom clashes with Kenny Linder; during the race Linder clips Jack's bumper, and the car crashes and burns, killing Jack. A week later, Dom is jailed for beating Linder nearly to death. Years later, Dom lives retired with Letty and their son Brian. Roman, Tej and Ramsey report that Mr. Nobody's plane was attacked and Cipher abducted. Dom agrees to help when he learns his estranged brother Jakob is involved. In the wreck they find part of Project Aries, which can hack any computer weapons system, before Jakob's private army ambushes them and seizes it. Michael Stasiak gets the crew to a safe house by the Caspian Sea, where Dom's sister Mia arrives.

- Stuntman Joe Watts, who doubled for Vin Diesel, suffered a serious head injury during filming of F9 at Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire in July 2019.
