Plot summary
Bobby, a recovering alcoholic in Chicago, is raising his young daughter with no work and no money. After his wife died from an overdose, he asks her brother Cissy for work, and Cissy puts him on money pickups and lends him a car. The girl comes upon a wounded Doberman and tends to it against her father's wishes. Animal control officers catch the dog and take it to a pound; it gets out and finds its way back to her. Bobby knows the animal from Cissy's house and tells his daughter to get rid of it. She returns it to the place where she found it.
