Plot summary
During World War II, Eileen Carr is a nurse in San Francisco. She is staying at an inn while she recovers from a nervous breakdown, and the same dream comes to her again and again: two men in the act of murdering a third. A federal agent, Barry Malcolm, is among the other guests, and when Eileen meets him she is astounded to recognize him as the man her dream casts as the victim. The danger the vision points at is enemy spies. What Eileen has seen while asleep gives her something to work with in an effort to thwart them.
