Plot summary

After his departure from Nazi Germany in 1932, Albert Einstein comes to the Roughton camp in Norfolk and later settles on Long Island. Dramatized scenes of that passage sit alongside archival footage, and his own speeches, letters and interviews carry the account, in which he returns to the theory of relativity he had built and to what his ideas would mean for the making of the atomic bomb. Commander Locker-Lampson, Barbara Goodhall and Katsu Hara are among the people around him in Norfolk. Part of that stay draws on a nonfiction book about the time he spent there.
