Plot summary
Cleveland, 2007. Edie Meaney is fourteen, driving her drunk parents home from a bar when police pull the car over. Her father urges her to speed away, and she crashes. Her mother is killed, her father is left paralyzed, and Edie moves through a string of abusive foster homes until John, a young petty criminal, takes her in. They fall in love and rob for the mob boss Nico, who gives Edie the nickname Eenie Meanie. Fourteen years on, Edie has left both that work and John behind. She holds a bank job to pay for community college, is knocked out during a robbery, and learns at the hospital that she is pregnant. She visits John and finds Nico's men interrogating him.
