Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Guy Maddin mimicked silent-era effects for the film: tinted screen color, shadow play, and vaseline smeared on the camera lens for a blurry look, while computer-generated effects added bright, acidic colors to golden coins, green bank notes and red blood.
- Guy Maddin elected to shoot the dance film through close-ups and jump cuts, a fashion uncommon for such films.
