Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Doctor Who: The Husbands of River Song (2015)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Greg Davies, who played King Hydroflax, called the shoot the most uncomfortable of his career: he was trapped under a table as a floating head, and even inside the robot costume it was no place for a man to relax.
- Hydroflax's headless body was operated by multiple professionals, a cast of Greg Davies's head was made so prop heads could be carried around set, and a dummy section of the TARDIS console let Davies sit and deliver lines through a hole in the panel.
- Steven Moffat originally planned "The Husbands of River Song" to be his last episode of Doctor Who, but stayed on because his successor, Chris Chibnall, was busy with the third season of Broadchurch.
- Moffat thought Doctor Who was finished with River Song, but former showrunner Russell T Davies encouraged him to bring Alex Kingston back so she could act opposite Capaldi, and Kingston said she did not expect to return.
- Greg Davies accepted the part of King Hydroflax without reading the script, describing it as "one of those jobs that validates the career to my own mother"; Matt Lucas, who played Nardole, was a fan of the show.
