Plot summary
Zlatan B. is 38 and works as a gynecologist. He performs abortions whenever patients ask for one and gives the matter no further thought. He and his wife Vesna have been married for years, and he has long been sure that the two of them love the same person: him. Vesna keeps raising the idea of a child, and he keeps putting it off, convinced his decisions are the right ones and that nothing at home needs fixing. He takes his pleasures where he finds them and notices no strain in the marriage. Then a serious illness and the little time it leaves him send him back over the mistakes of his past.
