Plot summary
Doña Rosa, a prominent rancher, loves her grandson Pedro Dosamantes but keeps trying, with no success, to make him behave. He leaves a bedroom through the window when a husband comes home and rides away; at the ranch his grandmother discovers the stuffed bed he left behind and takes her walking stick to his servant Bartolo. Pedro courts Flor, the niece of a neighboring rancher, who flirts with him and also with Pablo, the town mayor who owns the saloon and wants to marry her. Doña Rosa favors Flor for Pedro. At a wedding celebration, Pedro dances with one partner after another and then sings; a mocking letter signed Anonimo reaches him. In Pablo's saloon, a customer grabs the dancer Luciérnaga, and Pedro throws a punch.

- Pedro Infante, the film's star, is still widely honored in Mexico much as Elvis Presley is in the United States; like Presley, some people are so unaccepting of his death that they maintain he faked it and is still alive.
