Plot summary
A witch sets the warrior Deathstalker on a quest to gather three objects of power. The sorcerer Munkar, who seized the kingdom from its king and now rules it, already holds two of them. The third, a sword, waits in a cave where an ogre and an imp keep watch. The imp, Salmaron, is a thief under a curse the witch laid on him; he helps Deathstalker against the ogre and then travels with him. On the road, the warrior Oghris tells Deathstalker of a tournament Munkar has announced, whose winner will inherit the kingdom. Deathstalker and Oghris also meet Kaira, a defiant female warrior, who joins them the next morning.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Deathstalker (1983)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The cover of a 2011 repress by the British label Film 2000 billed Lana Clarkson not by her role but with the words “murder victim in the Phil Spector case”.
- The budget was quoted as $2.5 million but, as often with Corman, the figure was inflated for publicity and the real cost was about $500,000; Olivera reckoned filming in Argentina was three times cheaper than in the U.S.
- Corman asked some crew members to take American names in the credits, so as a joke they translated their own names literally, turning production manager Alejandro Arando into “Alex Plowing”.
- The Argentine crew, unfamiliar with high fantasy, first pitched Gothic set designs, so they were shown art by Frank Frazetta and Boris Vallejo, the latter of whom painted the film's poster.
- Extras cost the equivalent of only $3 a day, cheap enough for the production to fill some scenes with up to four hundred of them.
- During filming a technician was injured falling from a platform deemed unsafe in windy conditions, an accident some blamed on the director's lack of consideration for the locals.
