Plot summary
In the 1980s, Josh Iver is a Black designer of analog synthesizers who shows a model he built himself. Trent Whittington takes an interest in the instrument and proposes a collaboration, letting Josh use part of his house and equipment to develop the design. Josh accepts, and the two work side by side. Trent plays back recordings of the synthesizer tests in his free time and gives Josh presents meant to keep him from leaving. A note asking for help reaches the post office in Peoria, Illinois.
