Plot summary
Crime waves sweep the inner cities of a collapsed near-future economy, and the state seizes a chain of drive-in theaters, turning them into camps for unemployed and unwanted youths. Tall fences ring each lot, and the roads leading in are electrified. Police work with the owners to disable the cars of visitors, so patrons find they cannot drive away. Crabs Rossini, a young fitness enthusiast, drives his brother's vintage Chevy to the Star Drive-In with his girlfriend, Carmen, and tells the owner, Thompson, that they are unemployed to get a discount. Inmates are kept quiet with junk food, drugs, alcohol, exploitation films and new wave music. Crabs wants out.
