Plot summary
The dead have taken the world. In an underground missile bunker below the Florida Everglades, a small group of scientists and soldiers waits out the apocalypse. Dr. Sarah Bowman, the radio operator Bill McDermott and the helicopter pilot John fly to Fort Myers to look for other survivors and find only a horde of the undead. Back at the base, Sarah watches the soldier Miguel Salazar's state of mind worsen. Captain Rhodes, who leads the military detail, grows impatient with the scientists. Dr. Logan, the lead researcher, keeps captured zombies in a corral and tries to train them into docile behavior; Sarah wants a cure instead. With supplies low and contact with other survivors lost, the two groups disagree about how to deal with the undead.
