Plot summary
Ted Peters and Dave Robinson were boyhood friends who later served in the Army. In civilian life Ted drives a London taxi, and he plans to marry Joy Goodall, a chorus girl. Dave, who wants money without waiting, joins a gang that Mr Gregory runs from a dance hall. Ted finds Dave murdered in his cab and sets out to find his killer. Joy takes a hostess job at the dance hall.

- Richard Attenborough and Sheila Sim, who co-star in the film, were married in real life, and Dancing with Crime was their first movie together. Attenborough was borrowed from the Boulting Brothers for it.
- The film was shot at Southall Studios, and filming there was difficult because of the freezing cold weather.
- The Radio Times Guide to Films notes that Dancing with Crime marks the feature debut of Dirk Bogarde, who played a bobby on the beat.
