Plot summary
Zambrini operates a small, isolated diner in rural California that serves local oil workers, and behind it he keeps a pen of twelve pigs. He feeds fresh corpses to the pigs. Miss Macy and her sister Annette, two spinster neighbors, suspect what he is doing, but Sheriff Dan Cole cannot get Zambrini to admit anything. Lynn Webster, a young stranger, arrives at the diner seeking work and lodging. Zambrini provides a room and hires her as a waitress without asking who she is. After a nightmare, she tries to investigate the pigpen, and Zambrini warns her to stay away from it. Ben, a local oil worker, pursues her for a date.

- At the film's May 23, 1973 premiere in Detroit, where it played as The Pigs, the distributor offered the audience free bacon, and according to director Marc Lawrence most of it was quietly and cautiously returned once the film was over.
- After Marc Lawrence sold the film to producer William Rowland in late 1973, the success of The Exorcist led Rowland to add a possession element, and Lawrence was brought back to shoot a new opening showing an exorcism performed on Lynn.
- In 1977 Donald Reynolds removed the exorcism scene and shot a new prologue and epilogue, playing first as Daddy's Girl; after the prologue was shortened, Aquarius Releasing released it theatrically in 1984 as Daddy's Deadly Darling.
