Plot summary
In the Caribbean, the authorities put out a warning that a cyclone is coming, but a fishing trawler, a tour boat and a small airliner never hear it, and the storm catches all three. The trawler springs a leak and sinks, and the fishermen abandon it; the airliner crashes into the sea, and the tour boat is left drifting with a damaged motor. When the storm is over, the Mexican coast guard searches for three days and gives up. The fishermen pick up the plane passengers, and the drifting tour boat later takes them in, twenty-seven people with almost no food or clean water. Sharks gather around the wreck, drawn by the bodies still inside the plane.
