Plot summary
Alejandro Liema takes up a post as doctor in a small Spanish village, where the inhabitants behave strangely from his first days. Local youths poke fun at him, and a man named Gonzalo appears to be some kind of leader among the inhabitants. When Alejandro asks about the situation he is asked to leave the village, and none of his questions are answered. His neighbor Marta is a pretty young woman who teaches at the village school; the two become friends at once, and the friendship turns into love. Gonzalo considers the teacher reserved for him alone, and he answers with violence.
