Plot summary
Tech runs the streetball team Enemy of the State and wants to beat rival Jewelz and Platinum. He calls his friend Noah Cruise to play, and Cruise agrees because he owes him. Cruise holds a UCLA scholarship and intends to become a doctor; he lives with his grandmother in Palmer Woods after his mother's death, while Tech helps his mother pay bills in his old Detroit neighborhood. Cruise works at a Foot Locker and invites Tech to his college orientation in California with a spare ticket. Vaughn, a sports agent who runs the games, keeps pressing Cruise to turn professional, warning that taking money from them would cost him the scholarship. At a tattoo party given by Eboni, Tech and Cruise meet her friend Vanessa, Jewelz's former girlfriend.
