Plot summary
Roseanne Skolnick is a popular high school senior in Southern California, but her home life is troubled. Her mother Maggie is unhappy married to Fred, Roseanne's alcoholic stepfather. Maggie begins an affair with bartender Chris and moves out, leaving Roseanne with Fred. At school, Vincent, an obsessive outcast, is fascinated by Roseanne, and her boyfriend Jimmy often bullies him. One drunken night Fred rapes her. She becomes withdrawn and keeps the rape from Maggie. Roseanne plots to murder Fred and asks Jimmy to help, but never tells him what Fred did.
