Plot summary
Michel Racine is president and judge of the Assize Court, feared in French courtrooms for a strictness he applies to himself as much as to others. Ditte Lorensen-Coteret, French and Danish, is selected to serve on the jury of a murder trial over which he presides. She and Racine have met before. While the court hears the case, the past the two of them share comes back to the surface.
