Plot summary
Countryman is a Jamaican fisherman whose solitude ends when an American couple, Bobby Lloyd and Beau Porter, crash-land their small plane on the island. He pulls them from the wreckage and leads them away from the authorities. Colonel Sinclair and the officials around him have put out their own account of the crash, saying the plane carried drugs and arms for the CIA, a story built to win popularity in an upcoming election. Countryman draws on his knowledge of the terrain and his own fighting skills to keep the two Americans from being caught as he moves them across the island.
