Plot summary
Jedediah Tucker Ward has spent his career as a civil rights lawyer, taking on the rich and powerful for clients who cannot afford to be taken advantage of, and choosing principle over profit. His daughter Maggie learned long ago that he was unfaithful to her mother, Estelle, and the two have been estranged since. Maggie went a different way, joining a corporate firm. Jed is hired onto a lawsuit against ARGO, an automaker whose Meridian station wagons can explode in a crash, a flaw tied to the left turn signal, and his research points to a strong case. Then he learns that ARGO's attorney is Maggie.
